Sydney Mechanic's School of Arts is the oldest operating School of Arts in Australia. Our members form a lively community that has existed since 1833. It’s a unique venue amid the books and memorabilia which form Thomas Keneally’s living legacy. We offer affordable venue hire in the Sydney CBD near Town Hall that is sure to be perfect for your event. Hire our large Theatre or our flexible Meeting Rooms that can be configured to meet your needs. Every year hundreds of organizations hire rooms at the SMSA for everything from their AGM, conference, product launch, talk, lecture, seminar or training day, to committee meetings, film nights, and recreation groups.

The Mitchell Theatre is perfect for your next event, lecture, seminar or AGM. Seating up to 170 people, it has a full audiovisual set up including a data projector, projector screen, computer, lectern, roving microphones, lapel microphones and sound system. Our four meeting rooms can be booked as a single room or opened up into double, triple or quadruple rooms. Each meeting room seats approx. 20 people and is between 28 to 31 sq m. Extra chairs are located in each room.
